Troubleshoot Apply
Resolve missing programs, organization access, incomplete sections, failed uploads, locked applications, and reminder-confirmation problems.
Start with the visible state, then check the program window, account, organization membership, application status, and file constraints.
Apply shows no open program
Symptoms: The page says No open batch right now, or the reminder form returns to the Apply home.
Apply exposes a program only after its application start and before its deadline. The public reminder form uses the same active-window rule. Do not reuse an old /orgs/:org_slug/new URL to try to start a closed application.
The empty state currently links to Sign up for reminders, but the public form redirects back when no batch is active. Check the public Apply page later or use the official Allocator One announcement channel for the next opening.
When no batch is current, the organization page also hides Previous applications. An already authorized direct application record can still open; contact support if an older record is no longer reachable without guessing or changing an application ID.
The intended organization is missing
- Confirm you signed in with the account that received the invitation.
- Confirm the account email when required.
- Accept the organization invitation.
- Reload Apply and select the organization again.
Guests cannot manage program or award applications. Ask an organization administrator to check your membership rather than sharing an application URL.
Starting opened an existing application
An organization reuses its existing application for the current batch. Apply redirects the new route to that record. Check the organization name and continue the existing application.
The status changed to Started before any answers were saved
This is expected. Entering the new-application workspace creates the application record immediately. Use Save & exit if you are not ready to continue; deleting or abandoning the record is not a customer-facing action.
Continue or Back does not move
Look for highlighted fields and the notice Could not save your answers. Fix the highlighted fields. Missing required answers alone do not block navigation, but an invalid stored value can. Check website and LinkedIn URLs first.
Submit returns to an earlier section
Submission is the whole-application completeness check. Apply saves the current work, shows Please complete the remaining steps before submitting., and opens the first incomplete section.
Complete every section named under These steps still need an answer before you can submit:, then return to Review your application.
A file will not attach
Check the constraints:
- the pitch deck must be one PDF;
- each file must be no larger than 250 MB;
- optional files must be PDF, Word, PowerPoint, or Excel documents;
- the upload control accepts up to 20 optional files in one selection, then appends completed uploads to files already attached;
- wait until the uploaded filename appears before leaving the section.
If Apply says Your file could not be attached. Please contact support., do not repeatedly upload the same file. Record the organization, program, filename, approximate time, and exact message for support. Do not send the document through an ordinary support channel unless requested through an approved secure path.
The application cannot be edited
Check its status. Interview, Accepted, and Not accepted are read-only. Accepted and Not accepted cards offer View application. The Interview card currently has no view or edit action.
If the status is Started or Submitted, confirm that you still belong to the application’s actual organization. A different organization slug in the URL does not transfer access.
When a current program is active, Previous applications can provide View application for an Interview record even though its current-application card has no view action. During a no-batch period that list is hidden; use an already authorized record URL or contact support rather than guessing an ID.
A collaborator cannot open the application
Add collaborator sends an organization invitation. The recipient must accept it before access can become active. On the application card or collaborator dialog, look for Invited or Pending invitations; those states mean acceptance is not complete.
If the person appears as Accepted but still cannot open Apply, verify that their organization role is Member or Admin. An existing guest membership can appear accepted and receive automatic organization emails but does not receive the Apply capabilities.
Reminder email or confirmation is missing
For a public reminder subscription:
- Enter a valid deliverable address and select Get notified.
- Wait for Please check your inbox for our confirmation email and follow the instructions.
- Check spam and filtering for the subject Confirm your Allocator One deadline reminder.
- Open only the private confirmation link in that email.
Unconfirmed public subscriptions do not receive deadline reminders. A malformed or unknown confirmation link returns to the Apply home without confirming. A valid older link still confirms only its original program subscription, even after that program closes; it does not carry over to the current program. Do not repeatedly submit the form: each successful submission creates another subscription. If the original address was correct and no usable confirmation arrives, contact support.
Never paste the private confirmation URL into a support ticket or screenshot. It contains the identifier that authorizes confirmation.
When to escalate
Provide the organization slug, program or award name, application status, section name, approximate time, expected result, actual result, and exact error text. For uploads, include the filename, extension, and size but not the file contents. Never include application answers, private confirmation links, credentials, or customer data in an ordinary support message.
