How-toSignals

Upload and manage datasets

Upload a source-specific CSV, follow background processing, inspect fund records and analysis, and safely delete obsolete data.

Use Datasets to add an approved fund-data CSV to one organization, monitor its processing, and inspect the resulting fund records.

Before you begin

You need a signed-in account and a membership in the intended organization. Prepare one CSV file of no more than 50 MB for one of these sources: Preqin, SEC Form D, FMA (Austrian Financial Market Authority), BaFin (German Federal Financial Supervisory Authority), SEBI (Securities and Exchange Board of India), or SEDAR+ (Canadian Securities Administrators).

Use only licensed or publishable synthetic data in a documentation workspace. Deleting a dataset permanently deletes its associated fund records too.

Upload and process a CSV

  1. Open https://signals.infra.one/<org-slug>/datasets.
  2. Under Upload new dataset, choose Data source.
  3. Add the CSV to the file dropzone.
  4. Confirm the filename and remove an incorrect file with Cancel upload.
  5. Select Upload and process.
  6. Confirm Uploaded the CSV file. Processing will begin shortly.
  7. Find the dataset in Datasets and watch its Status, Records, and Processed values. Use the field picker to show Failed when that optional column is hidden.

The browser creates the dataset for the organization in the route, records the signed-in uploader, and processes it in the background.

Inspect a dataset

  1. Select the dataset name.
  2. Confirm its filename, Status, Data source, File size, and upload date.
  3. Review Processing summary for Total records, Processed records, Failed records, Success rate, and processing timestamps.
  4. Review Fund analysis for fund categories, top strategies, top regions, and recent vintage years.
  5. Use Fund records overview to search, filter, sort, and choose fields for only this dataset’s records.

Delete an obsolete dataset

  1. Confirm the organization, dataset name, source, and record counts.
  2. From the dataset list or detail page, select Delete.
  3. Read the confirmation: All associated fund records are permanently deleted too.
  4. Confirm only when the file and its records are no longer required.

Deleting an organization dataset can also change the shared master-fund view when one of its records was the latest record for a normalized fund.

Success check

The dataset reaches the intended processing state, its detail page shows the expected source and record counts, and its fund records are searchable in the dataset detail browser.

Troubleshooting

  • Upload and process is disabled: add a CSV file to the dropzone first.
  • The page says “Select a data source before uploading”: choose the source that matches the file format.
  • The page says “No file was uploaded”: add the file again and keep it in the dropzone until submission.
  • Status remains Pending or Processing: background processing has not completed. Avoid uploading the same file again while the first job is active.
  • Status is Failed: preserve the original file, verify that it matches the selected source format, and contact the data owner before retrying.
  • A delete returns “Dataset not found”: the identifier is missing, already deleted, or belongs to another organization.
